Cheyenne’s Accomplice Beer Company is finally brewing their own beer, and it was well worth the wait.
Accomplice first opened in the summer of 2016 in the Cheyenne Depot Plaza. They opened with a simple menu of wings, ribs, and salads. A pour-your-own tap wall hosted about a dozen regional microbrews that were rotated often. All of the beer they purchased received good reviews from Beer Advocate and Untapped.
After a couple hiccups that prevented them from brewing their own recipes last year, they got the beer flowing just in time for St. Patrick’s Day 2017.
A ribbon cutting ceremony, $5 flights, brewery tours, and live music accompany their opening weekend.
Accomplice unveiled a dozen new brews, and the $5 flight option allowed me to sample four of them on Thursday night. Here’s what I tried:
Lincoln Rail Way IPA – As a hop lover, this was an outstanding beer to start with. A piney hoppy punch up front followed by floral and citrus notes. This was the best beer brewed in Cheyenne I had tasted until…
Burro Bucker Imperial IPA – A double IPA and twice as good as the Rail – Way. A lot of similar flavors, just more of a punch. If you’re an IPA fanatic, this is the best bang for your buck, if you’re into an all-day drinker go with the Rail – Way.
Slumber Car Porter – An outstanding porter for coffee lovers. A major hit of coffee up front. I picked up toffee and caramel notes and the hops really come through in the finish.
Pineapple Pale Ale – I had heard a couple people tell me they loved this beer, so I had to try it. For my personal taste, it was far too sweet, almost like drinking juice. This is a great selection for the “fruity” drink lover, but I won’t be going back to it.
A couple of additional notes. If you’re going on opening weekend, be prepared for a long wait. It took me about 15 minutes to get my beer card and grab a seat, it took me another 10 minutes to get my flight poured.
The staff is fantastic and was happy to answer all of my nerdy beer questions as well as help out “craft beer virgins.”
The $5 flights are a little deceiving. On the website or their Facebook page, it looks like you’re getting 7 beers for the price.
However like I mentioned in this article, you get to choose just 4.
Finally, I asked my bartender which beer was most popular so far and she let me know Sol Dance Wheat had just blown their first keg.
Accomplice has proven to be the best spot for craft beer in Cheyenne already, I can’t recommend trying them enough!
